“how to use seo for your business search engine optimisation business”

Try it on your site. It’s 100% free for 10 days. You don’t need any money or a credit card.  Sorry for the pitch, but this is important. Again, I literally created MySiteAuditor because the contact forms on my agency’s website were so unreliable.

This similarity in the contents can lead to the lowering of the ranks of the website. In case the website has wrong name and contact number, it can cause a lot of issues in them. But this misconception has to be eradicated as soon as possible.

Here’s a critical piece of advice. Always stay a student of the SEO industry. Read blogs, case studies, and everything the big search engines like Google release. So many people stop studying after a couple years. They think they know it all. Those same people soon go out of business. Here are a few good resources to stay educated.

Whenever someone asks me for some advice for starting their own SEO business or they are thinking about doing some freelance work, I immediately direct them to a much frowned upon medium in the SEO world, a book.

I’ve been reading SEO research for 12 years as I have been an SEO consultant for that long. It’s very rare that someone actually tells you their methods for getting clients. Wish I had read this 12 years ago.

Use sites like Upwork.com to find inexpensive admins that will send cold emails to your target market. This is key because cold emailing is far below your pay grade. An admin level person should be doing this, not you. If fact you can find someone in Asia or India to cold email for a couple dollars per hour.

I’ve struggled with whether I want to work for clients or work on my own authority site. I know there is good money in both. I am willing to bet that the folks ranking at the top for stuff like “best hosting” or “hosting reviews” etc must make at least 40k a month. You can make the same amount with an agency but then you would also have to deal with clients.

Google continues to perpetuate a world where they encourage the exact type of behavior they are trying (supposedly) to stop. Why is there so much spamming, deceptive advertising, affiliate desperation and gray/black hat SEO? Simply because they have ceased to foster any sort of fair or open environment where legitimate businesses can compete- so people get desperate. It’s harder than ever to get your business seen in Google- even if you’re willing to pay for it.

This is an excellent course! Everything is explained in in-depth details and what he explains here is a very lucrative business opportunity. If you already do local SEO for clients or you wanna get started in it, for beginners this is the perfect starting point and for experienced marketers you will learn a ton of things that you can implement in to your business. There is soo much to learn from this course. Honestly, I was blown away how much information OP provided. A must have course. A+++

The main benefit of an integrated model is you get to see a lot of different areas. Many people in the search industry talk the talk, but if their primary purpose is to sell, they’re less likely to have the chops. If you’ve got your own sites, and you win/lose based on how well they do, then you’ll likely have an understanding of algorithms that a lot of sales-oriented talking heads will never have. The downside is that you might spread yourself too thin over a number of projects, and thus become a master of none.

Those who work the system will *always* be able to find ways around issues (dynamic IP addresses, logging in from larger institutional networks that can’t easily be blocked, etc.) but it is the average person who gets screwed by Google’s draconian monopolistic “customer support is evil” ways. The problem for Google is this: “when innocence itself, is brought to the bar and condemned, especially to die, the subject will exclaim, it is immaterial to me whether I behave well or ill, for virtue itself is no security.” – John Adams

This means you need to determine who in your company (maybe everybody?) will become active on Google+ and other key social graph and authority platforms like LinkedIn to champion your brand, create content, and get connected to other authoritative people. Google+ posts pass Page Rank, and Google+ profiles may show author attribution on results pages, so it’s an especially important platform for SEO.

You have to learn to delegate. If you can outsource or white label any of your services, do it. I still struggle with letting go of control over certain aspects of the company but having a partner like Marketer’s Center makes it much easier.

The best place to hide a website is Page 2 of a google search result! Unless a company website finds itself on the first page of a search engine result, chances are very slim for it to get much viewers and customers.

Neil, This has motivated me and really need it now. I just had a meeting with a $45 million/yr business and asked them for $100,000 budget. I was able to show them I could get them the same clicks organically that they were paying $10,000/ month for with PPC… and show them my solution was long-term from 3 years of client data in the same industry and locations nearby for the same style keywords. I did not get the deal and it really discouraged me. Was the first time I ever asked for that much money so I could taste it. My biggest clients all fall in the realm of $1500/ month but I cannot build an agency like that for sure. I want the big clients like but am a 1 man shop. You feel maybe I am too small at this point to go for that kind of money? I could have done a better job showing my prospect a path to ROI. I have a new meeting I think for a company that does say $5-7 million per year, is a $100,000 annual budget realistic if I can show them the path to money? I need a wealth mentor. Got to break through this.

Congrats on making a lot of money, but I think most people realize that SEO is the new snake oil. Charging a company $3500 a month to add a few meta tags to their web pages is great work if you can get it, but hardly an honest gig.

Discrete content elements – web pages, images, PDFs, videos, social profiles and brand pages, local listings, and off-site (reviews) pages all require on-page optimization. This means knowing the target keyphrase for the content and getting it into the right places – the title, description, copy, etc.

As you are making your way through the steps of creating whatever it is you are intending to sell, consider logging the process. Create a manual along the way. A manual that is constantly revised as you learn faster, and better ways of doing things will be invaluable to your future growth.

The same goes for internet marketing, or for those people who want to start their own SEO business. This requires many daunting tasks, such as; learning all about the different optimization techniques, finding an initial set of clients to work with, creating your own fully-optimized business site with a good online reputation, etc.

“SEO has the highest long term ROI of any form of marketing.” – This is something I say which some people may not agree with but here’s why I think it’s true; When SEO is done properly and ethically, and you achieve top ranking results across targeted keywords with good search volume, these rankings then have the potential to stay there (without any additional optimisation required) potentially for YEARS to come. I don’t know of any other form of marketing that can keep on returning that sort of value consistently, day after day, years after you have stopped paying for it. This again is a good thing to follow up with after you make this statement to the client as every business owner will be delighted with the prospect of still receiving traffic/leads/clients long after they have paid for the SEO services.

Starting your own business is no joke. There are lots of things that you need to learn about and you need to put lots of time, dedication and hard work into getting it up and running. Perhaps this is the reason why many people prefer to be employees. It is always easier being an employee rather than an employer.

Speak at conferences – SEO and marketing conferences used to be the place to get new customers. I used to pick up at least $100,000 per marketing conference I went to that had over 1,500 attendees. Sooner or later, all of the other SEOs and marketers started to speak at the same events, and the amount of new revenue I acquired from these events drastically shrunk. I later learned that the best events to speak at are non-industry events. For example, when I spoke about online marketing at an online gambling event, I was able to lock PokerStrategy.com in a $1.2 million contract. From finance to fitness and everything in between, non-industry events typically brought in four times more revenue than industry events. You just have to make sure you are speaking at conferences that charge at least $1,000 per ticket as that means you are usually talking to an audience that can afford your services. When you speak, you have to talk about specific tactics people can leverage, show examples of companies using those tactics, and wrap it up with data that shows your methods were successful.

Lots of people want freebies, and I’ve been reluctant to give away too much…I will give clients a quick overview of their site/competitive environment as a way of justifying the need to hire an SEO agency; but I find that some have no intention of buying because they see this as a freebie and hope to get more freebies…I’m wondering how much one should ‘open the kimono’ during these early stages, and if one realizes that the company isn’t going to be a whether it is worthwhile to say: ‘Look, I’ll make you a deal, we’ll do x for you as a free service in return for allowing us to wear your logo on our site.’?

Sounds like you need some guidance on how to create quality content. Well, to be honest, it’s simple. Just make sure you are providing value and are an educational resource to your niche. Create context within your links to avoid being seen as spam. When you do things naturally and write from experience, it shows. Focus less on the ends and more on the means.

It’s free and you can do this in one weekend. To get your Google Analytics certification you should have a practice Google Analytics account (a live website). Then follow the video tutorials from Course 1 and Course 2 which is also has practice quizzes – making it easy.

I’ve also noticed that the more you communicate with the client, the longer they will stay with you. I know, this process may seem like a pain in the butt, but it’s harder to get new clients than it is to keep your current ones paying. So, cherish your clients.

Obviously, it is quite expensive and time consuming to dedicate a monthly campaign to a non-paying client; so I’d like to know exactly what you recommend doing to justify value given to the client? Do you say, ‘I’ll do x for you, in return for allowing me to post your logo on my site as a client?’

There are both advantages and disadvantages to each of the legal entities and therefore it is important that you speak with a lawyer or accountant to figure out the best structure for your specific needs.

My advice to anyone who is looking to start an SEO business is actually learn how to do SEO on your own sites for a period of time before actually taking on clients, test numerous things and actually do some heavy research first.

Structured data markup — often referred to as “schema markup” or “schema.org markup” — can be added to your website’s code to provide search engines with more information about your business, like the products you sell, reviews you’ve collected, services you offer and so on.

Google is the most used search engine on the internet – it is the dominant search service among consumers. It has a major impact on SEO strategy when its algorithm changes. Google also provides a bunch of helpful services so you can collect and analyze data about your website and its performance. All these tools are free.

Does the business owner have any questions of their own?: Make sure that before you get round to actually trying to close any deal that you make sure the business owner has no questions left unanswered. By asking this it saves you having to think about all the possible questions that need to be asked and let the client do this for you. You need to make sure that the business owner is clear about how the process works and what you will be doing in the coming months to get them to where they want to be in the search engines.
