“how seo helps your online business organic search engine marketing”

I’ve been reading SEO research for 12 years as I have been an SEO consultant for that long. It’s very rare that someone actually tells you their methods for getting clients. Wish I had read this 12 years ago.

I used to rely on the word of mouth as my main revenue source. It’s easy to build a six-figure SEO agency, assuming you can provide the service. It’s really hard to create a seven-figure business from it though.

Be prepared to get slammed and inundated with tools and software in this industry. They are everywhere. Hopefully I can save you some time and energy by listing all the tools I used while running my SEO business.

Trends – This tool allows you to compare keywords and analyze how users are searching Google. Google Trends can be very helpful when comparing your business to competitors, or by finding the right search terms for your business.

Never short change yourself. Believe in the quality of the service you can offer and stand by your pricing structure. Your customers will appreciate your service and what they pay when they start to see the results.

Create geo-targeted evergreen pages, create geo-optimized profiles, location pages, support or reseller pages, whatever. No matter how abstract your business is you can find some way to make it locally relevant.

Amazing post Neil! It’s not always easy to lay down a to-do list for a career in this manner. But it’s good to know that you have succeeded in doing so, and I guess following your footsteps is a good choice to make.

Article covers the trend that might have been applicable at in 2012-13. can you please let me know how the trend has changed in content marketing and seo overall since this article? There has been a lot of changes in search algorithms and methods. So please throw some light on existing and upcoming trends of seo.

Hi Neil ! it’s great lesson for me. As a newbie, i have got many ideas from this post. i always love to read Neil’s blogging ideas. i have been reading this site for two years and always get different ideas. best of luck.

Gather clients: Some SEO services rank high for keywords and thus they get their work, some pay for advertising, some use referrals, some, however, use forums and social media to get work. You can even use freelance websites and bidding websites.

You can start an online business on whatever you want, whether it’s; a cookery site teaching people how to eat healthy food, a site selling scale model boats, a local dog walking business, a professional consultancy business dealing with multinationals, even selling your own art! etc. Online businesses are cheap to initially set-up and allows you to reach a large market of people via the internet.

In my case they gave me no warning whatsoever before banning me. They initially insisted they did, but then later recanted and admitted to banning me without warning because my violations were “egregious”. How can an 8-year old deleted ad be “egregious”?

SEO is an inbound marketing strategy that drives organic search traffic from search engines like Google and Bing. This means that your business interacts with potential customers while they’re actively seeking your services (like when you search for “Nike running shoes” and Google shows you ads for exactly that).

Sure I can advertise other places…but I can’t reach Google’s customers there. As an individual I can choose to use another search engine, but as a business I cannot magically make potential customers do the same. I HAVE to use Google or give up a huge market share.

Use sites like Upwork.com to find inexpensive admins that will send cold emails to your target market. This is key because cold emailing is far below your pay grade. An admin level person should be doing this, not you. If fact you can find someone in Asia or India to cold email for a couple dollars per hour.

Before offering anything, understand what you potential clients needs are. Make it a point to learn about his business to make sure that you can offer them help. There is no such thing as “one size fits all”. Making them feel that they are unique and important is what will help you gain their trust.

Am only a beginner to all this and I love reading your guides and I find what do you is amazing and its really inspiring to me and because of you I am really decided to this. Sometimes I do feel like am seeing no results and sometime I give up thinking I can’t do this at all maybe it’s because am not making enough back-links? (just spam my way to the top?). To be honest I have no idea what am doing half of time and in time I will eventually figure it out. Anything that I read I can’t process it, there’s so much you’ve written and I only remember the basics.

The competition in the SEO industry is very stiff and one of the factors responsible for the high competitiveness is the low entry barrier. Anybody can wake up and claim to be an SEO expert, this is why there are a lot of charlatans in the industry.

Check out your top local competitors and see which categories they’re using. If you’re competing for the same customers in “real life,” you should be competing for the same online traffic. However, don’t that what your competitors chose to do for their site is necessarily right for your site; it’s just a starting point.

As mentioned above, Bing also has a comparable page for local businesses called Bing Places for Business. The process is very similar to GMB, and you should definitely have your business present on Bing’s local directory, too.

Think about it. The longer the contract the longer the decision process. Why make things complicated for your clients? Why make them think harder about whether or not they want to work with you. Again, I’m not an attorney, but shorter, simpler, and clearer contracts close way more deals.

It ended up morphing into much more than simply addressing your Q! Namely, it mentions how any business can use local search to give website traffic a jumpstart — even those without any offline storefronts.

Using search, you know where 100% of your budget is going. It won’t be wasted so long as you target correctly. Targeting is what search marketing does so well. If you enjoy figuring out what people want, matching them up with a page that allows them to do that thing, and beat your competition at doing so, then search marketing is a good game to be in. Whether you do that using SEO, PPC, social media, or likely a mix of all three, the demand for qualified visitors will always exist.

They don’t get into work and think: “You know what I should do today?? I should go and leave the SEO company working for us a testimonial! I should spend my day trying to find referrals for this SEO company!”

In addition to surveying your clients, make sure you also provide them with a monthly report and weekly calls. The more you communicate with them, the faster you will find out if they are happy or not.
