It’s certainly good that you’re doing your research and gathering information. However, I think that many of my colleagues would agree that nothing has taught us more than actually doing the work. Reading up on SEO can give you some good general knowledge, but actually having the experience of seeing what works and what doesn’t, especially in different market spaces, is priceless.
Many people think that lack of initial money to start your own business is what is stopping them from leaving their jobs. Yes, it is true that money can limit us, but that is only if you let it! A famous Buddhist entrepreneur once said; “Money only becomes a problem when you treat it as a problem!”
Even if someone is not a business owner, you never know when their boss, a colleague or friend may require services that you offer. That’s when giving them your business card can pay days, weeks, months or even years down the line.
In addition to surveying your clients, make sure you also provide them with a monthly report and weekly calls. The more you communicate with them, the faster you will find out if they are happy or not.
You should have a team of members who can take care of the completed project and who can review the whole project. You can suggest the client with a more devolvement offer. If you don’t know about analytics or website programming, then you need to develop relations with the developer who are near you.
You can use a tool like Bright Local to check out any existing citations you have and then update them so that they’re all consistent. You can also use the tool to track your competitors’ citations and add your own to the same websites.
This is the next step towards setting up a successful business. Before investing a dime to establish your SEO company, it is important you write down everything you have in mind about your new company; starting from the mission statement, vision statement, your goals and objectives, your target clients, your competition, marketing strategy and other market challenges, the financial requirements, and so on.
Social signals. Set up as many social accounts as possible. Provide useful content, gain followers and link social accounts to your site. Make sure your website has your local keywords in your content.
It ended up morphing into much more than simply addressing your Q! Namely, it mentions how any business can use local search to give website traffic a jumpstart — even those without any offline storefronts.
Finding clients’ is just one phase of the game, educating clients is a different ball game entirely. There is a high probability that most of your clients will be small business owners that have neither heard of the word “SEO”, nor know how it works.

Sometimes, I see some SEO firms marketing their business using only paid advert methods such as Google Adwords. I would never hire such professionals because their mode of advertising only shows their incompetence. If they were really experts in SEO, they would have used SEO to market their services; not paid ads! Even if you will adopt other online marketing strategies, you must give a good account of yourself by working on your website’s rankings first.

You will now be fast approaching the part of the meeting where you either close this thing down and leave with a new client on board, or you will be leaving with another meeting, or worst case scenario, the client will need time to ‘think about it’.

While many SEO businesses are doing really well and someone could definitely go in and make a name for themselves by starting the HONEST SEO company, I just don’t think it would be something I’m interested in.

The first thing you need to prepare is a plan of action report. I used to work in the SEO department for a basement systems company and you have no idea how intricate a proper SEO company is. They owned a network of thousands of quality domains, blogs and websites whose sole purpose was to constantly build links back to the multiple business properties they owned. They had one main business but owned multiple domains to rank in different states and regions. Not to mention the managing of their anchor text, and conversion testing to see how a keyword would perform. The on page stuff is basic, the real value an SEO agency can provide now a days is a proper network of diverse high quality sites to provide links and knowing how to give those links and for what keywords.
