These are some of the ways you can start earning money from your SEO firm. Before you set your company, you need to be defined by what you want and how you want your company to grow. There are people who started SEO and then slowly developed their firm.
When my partner decided to take over the business completely I was lost for a little while but as of literally a week ago I decided to brain storm a business name and start getting myself out there to help local businesses. I managed to score a $1000 client in a mere 7-8 days!
The course is very detailed with many videos all set up in weekly format that can be gone through at your own pace. The inclusion of the recommended tools and working templates can save you hours of work and keep you on track.
It could be eCommerce SEO, Magento, Joomla… or just local SEO. Just giving you ideas since narrowing it down helps you stand out. Yoast and WordPress speed optimization are specific to WordPress. It helps you specialize in more than just “SEO” which people like.
Local SEO is a very different ballgame than performing SEO for a single website and requires attention to additional signals. Here are a few pointers for what to do after registering your business with Google and Bing.
There are lots of way to go about earning/building links, and if you want a load of them, check out my link building strategies guide. For the purpose of this article I’m going to focus on acquiring links that are really effective within local link building campaigns.
It’s not just press releases. It’s interviews, it’s getting your employees to link to deep pages from their Google+ profiles, and it’s drawing attention to the deep functionality of the site so that bloggers and other folks will link to them and discuss them.
The first thing you need to prepare is a plan of action report. This is what you will present to the business owner(s) at the meeting as you talk them through what the process will be and how it will increase their website traffic and ultimately get them more leads/customers. I lay mine out like this:
Great Article on the basics of SEO but there is so much more to it. THe Keyword Research if the most vital part before doing all of the basics you have to be spot on or your search engine optimization campaign will be a disaster. understanding what phrases cause a action you are desiring on your site and what has the most traffic are two different things and there needs to me a clear understanding of this before you start.
Design agencies often like such arrangements because they get to add an additional service without having the overhead of another staff member. They also get to click the ticket on your services. Your billing is also more streamlined, as you’re likely be billing the agency itself.
You need to become obsessed and fight like crazy to get to page #1 of Google for SEO service related keywords in your geographical area. Usually, the best keyword to target customers is “SEO” + your city. In other words, if you’re starting an SEO company in Albany, New York, you should target “SEO Albany”. I’m sure some of you are getting worried right now because you live in big cities where other SEO companies dominate the first page of Google. Stop worrying. While you’re fighting your way to page #1 of Google for a very competitive keyword, target low hanging fruit like “SEO services Albany”, “seo company Albany NY”, or “Albany SEO company”. The trick is that you have to be on Page #1 for something. This will give you credibility when it’s time to close the deal. Not only will potential customers find you, but in sales meetings you can also point that your SEO business is on the top of page #1 of Google for “SEO company in Albany”. Your potential customers have no idea which keywords are the hardest keywords to target in SEO; being on page #1 among and ahead of your SEO competitors will impress the heck out of potential customers. I can’t even count the number of customers who told me they purchased our services because we were on the top of page #1 of Google, ahead of our SEO competitors.

The best way to charge a client is by charging an hourly rate; however, this can be kind of difficult when starting an SEO business. Your clients will not like paying for your learning curve, and they won’t like an open ended price. Fixed pricing seems a lot safer to most clients… until you get bigger and better clients. So, I recommend doing a combination of both an hourly rate and a fixed cost when starting an SEO business. Here’s a break down:
After the design, you should put up good content on your website that describes your services and explains why the reader should hire your services. Also put up all the necessary pages; such as about us, our services, contact us, testimonials/case studies, pricing, and so on.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is a type of Internet marketing that changes websites so that they rank higher on organic and paid online searches. This dynamic business changes often, and experts must learn new ways of ranking and advertising every year. If you are an SEO expert, then you may consider offering your expertise to other businesses, rather than working for a company. You will need to invest in marketing, education and business organization in order to reap profits from the business. Learn how to start an SEO consulting business.
I will recommend you to take some SEO training from a reputed institute, work for 6-12 months either in a company or for yourself to understand everything that help to rank any website in search engine.
Obviously, it is quite expensive and time consuming to dedicate a monthly campaign to a non-paying client; so I’d like to know exactly what you recommend doing to justify value given to the client? Do you say, ‘I’ll do x for you, in return for allowing me to post your logo on my site as a client?’
Here’s a critical piece of advice. Always stay a student of the SEO industry. Read blogs, case studies, and everything the big search engines like Google release. So many people stop studying after a couple years. They think they know it all. Those same people soon go out of business. Here are a few good resources to stay educated.
Submit your website to applicable industry directories or, alternatively, buy advertising. For example, anyone in the wedding business could get listings with a link back to their website on The Knot, The Wedding Channel, and other similar sites. Bypass low-quality directories that have nothing to do with your industry or ones that link to shady websites in the adult, pharmaceutical, or online casino industries.
If you do this, know what you’re getting into. Ask yourself if you’re more likely to be part of the cause or part of the cure. Do you have the stomach to be called a spammer, even if you’re white hat? Do you adapt easily to constant change? If you don’t know, then you’re probably not ready for this. Spend a couple months working at an agency before branching off on your own. Read industry blogs voraciously. Practice on your own websites. Offer free SEO to your friends just for the practice. Measure the effect of everything you do quantitatively. Get your hands dirty first.
Citations (core online profiles) are both the #2 and #5 Google Map ranking factors. I always work with clients on Google My Business and Moz Local (since those are the most important profiles). But I outsource creating all the other profiles to Whitespark for $4-5 per citation. You can either upsell this to clients (eg. for $10 per citation) or refer them as a Whitesaprk affiliate and make a 10% commission.
