“how to use seo for your business search engine optimization fundamentals”

NOTE: One thing that some of you may be thinking about is the ranking of Google +/ Places/Maps local business listings. That an entirely different ball game from standard organic SEO and by covering it in this tutorial would make it a never ending story.

The next field you need to know something about is business. Perhaps the best options is to take up a business course, if you want to be well-informed before getting things done. After that, you should write a business plan for 5 years. This will help you organize and make sure that you know what you want. Think about marketing, finances, staff and management. Moreover, these plans might be useful for getting a loan or an investment for start-ups.

Whitespark’s citation intake and reports are non-branded so if you upsell this to clients, they probably won’t know you outsourced this. They also offer a citation clean-up service if they’re a complete mess.

What’s so good about this is that your only real responsibility in this ongoing transaction is answering any questions the client may have from month to month, emailing out the monthly ranking reports (which the SEO reseller company will create for you) and dealing with invoicing and payments every month.

Most of these cost from $99 – $399 per month. I know that seems steep but the services they offer can definitely help pay you back before you know it. I would hold off on purchasing these until you have a website and general business plan.

Awesome article, perhaps the best one I have seen on this topic. I am final year businesss student in the UK and the article basically outlines what I aim to accomplish over the next five years or so. I was wondering what is the best way to get in touch with you if I want to ask you a bit more detailed question? Thanks again for taking the time to publish this.

Many companies net out in the middle – high profile executives and writers or product people are authorized, encourages, and reviewed and compensated based on their social authority and the metrics of the content they create and promote on ‘earned’ platforms.

See when you first started your SEO agency. What kind of tactics did you use? I know you can use white-hat SEO and with strong content you can climb to #1 and for black-hat SEO is basically spam. What am trying to say is when you first joined “Elpac” and started to do SEO for them, did you just basically spam your way to the top because I know back in 2012/2013 you could climb your way to the top by just simply spamming your keywords – manually build backlinks use tools. I know the algorithms always change and every time it gets harder. See what would you do? SPAM your way to the top or do it the legit away? (I don’t even think there is a legit way and there’s only one way). What would you say to a beginner what kind of tactics should I do? Am not asking to give up your secret.

Large companies tend to want to deal with large agencies. Large companies may have their own internal search team. There comes a point where it is cheaper to hire someone full time that hire an external consultant, and that point is the average full time salary plus employment costs.

After the design, you should put up good content on your website that describes your services and explains why the reader should hire your services. Also put up all the necessary pages; such as about us, our services, contact us, testimonials/case studies, pricing, and so on.

You then decide you’d like a 100% mark up on this deal so you get your client to pay you £500 (~US$800) per month for the SEO services on the 10 keywords every month. So you end up profiting to the tune of £250 (~US$400) per month for the duration of that deal.

In today’s landscape, more than 125 million US consumers walk around with smartphones, representing 54% of mobile subscribers. Here’s a high-level breakdown of how they use their smartphones to access local information:

You get to the exhibition and find loads of stunning paintings hung on the wall attracting lots of attention from other people. You really like your friend’s artistic style and one painting in particular has caught your eye. You want to buy it badly, but simply can’t afford it.

It’s worth mentioning that this doesn’t just mean Google reviews. You’ll also want to focus on getting reviews on your Yelp page (they’re used by Apple maps), along with other local directories. Your first priority should be Google reviews though.

The good news is you don’t have to guess! Google has a keyword planner tool that provides search volume for queries, as well as a suggestions feature to provide insight into different keyword variations. This is extremely useful when deciding whether “tacos” or “meat with a tortilla folded around it” is searched for more frequently, as a search engine’s index treats the queries separately. Using these keywords naturally throughout your site builds relevancy and helps search engines understand what your site is about.

You don’t have to be a writer to get started in SEO. Jim Boykin, the founder and CEO of Internet Marketing Ninjas, has a great life story. He describes himself as an “old hippie.” Way back when, he traveled and lived in various parts of the country for years, working in restaurants and elsewhere, doing the hard work people do in their youth when they are discovering who they are. But he was watching and thinking as he worked. In the late 1990s, he decided that the emerging Internet-thing might have legs (good call!) and moved back home to Upstate New York to become an entrepreneur. He knew what all small businesses needed – promotion and customers! He thought he could help those in his home town by starting his own business to create business websites for others. But shortly after founding We Build Pages (the predecessor to Internet Marketing Ninjas), he realized the web was already getting crowded, and online users were turning to search engines as a way to find websites and content. That’s when he shifted the focus of his business to SEO and link building, and as a result, he was a huge success.

can u suggest me any good idea ?? and if i start a SEO company what kind of service i will be exactly providing ?? what i need to do to be a qualified SEO professional ?? does this kind of business needs anykind of physical existence or it’s completely over the internet ??

Great post Neil I am also a young entrepreneur/author/SEO and I am really glad I stumbled across your blog today. Congratulations on all your success so far man!! Look forward to reading your future posts and I’ll see you at the top!

If you keep up with the latest in online marketing news, then you have likely read about content development and content marketing. Content is great for both your website visitors and search engines. The more content you have, the more likely your visitors will stick around on your website. And the more content you have, the more likely search engines will be to put more of your website’s pages in the search index.

Never ever guarantee anything. Tell them that your services are based on your best efforts and depending on a series of factors, results may depend on both timing and costs. Steer away from promising high rankings in 30 days or less. That will kill your business and you did not even start yet.

If you want to reach success, then you have to have a good strategy. And in order to have a good strategy, you have to know who you are. What do you bring new to the market? Why should people choose you? Without knowing these important elements, you won’t be able to conceive an appropriate and useful marketing strategy that would bring you truly interested users.

To go from starting a business that isn’t successful, to being a student, and then happening into a $3500/month consultancy gig is truly phenomenal and, unfortunately, too good to be true for most young entrepreneurs. I can’t help but think that an opportunity as rich as this doesn’t just come about on a whim. I’m curious to know if there was any thing that influenced that sales rep to be in attendance that day.

I believe SEO and web design go hand in hand. In fact SEO should be done before, after and during web design and development. If you don’t offer web design and development services, you could be hurting your SEO results and losing business. When you just offer SEO consulting to a third party web design and development team, and don’t do the actual SEO work, much of what you recommend could get lost in translation. Something won’t get implemented properly and something won’t get done at all. This will hurt results and make you look bad.

Really great post. I am currently in the process of structuring my SEO Digital Agency name Fancy Apples Digital Agency. However, I am stuck on a few things, such as how to register the name of the company, Corp S, LLC, ect? If possible i would love to get your expertise on structuring my business to see which works well for a SEO AGENCY. Thank you I appreciate your time.

What an amazing course, i got a review copy from Aehs01 and i must admit that the course is so detailed. I didn’t took all the course but i took the most important videos. I do own a SEO company myself and definitely there are some amazing unknown ways on how to land new clients.

The above chart shows a breakdown of the weighting of various ranking factors within local SEO campaigns. One of the things to note here is that whilst there are a few slightly different factors compared to the usual SEO campaign (i.e. External Loc. Signals and My Business Signals), links and on-page SEO factors still play a huge part. The only difference is that the type of links you’ll want to focus on will be a lot different.

Until you have built your business into a known brand, you will need to do some extra work in order to attract customers. Develop healthy relationships by networking with other SEO professionals, content developers, programmers, graphics designers, social media experts and content marketers.

Thank you Neil, this post is full of nuggets! We will take what we are not doing now and change. One question, what’s your advice on signed agreements with Clients? Is 30 day, mth to mth good? On one hand you don’t want to make people feel trapped and on the other you don’t want them to quit on a whim without at least being with you for 6-12mths. Is the industry standard of 1-2yr good enough? What’s a good balance between sustainable revenue for agency, and good commitment & partnership between an agency and a Client?

You will now be fast approaching the part of the meeting where you either close this thing down and leave with a new client on board, or you will be leaving with another meeting, or worst case scenario, the client will need time to ‘think about it’.

I’ve been running some similar experiments over the past few months and found that it does earn some short-term wins, but CTR has to be consistently high to ensure that rankings will stabilize. You also need to reduce bounces from search, as this is a negative signal to Google.

However SEO Consulting Business is entirely performance-oriented service. You have to be dedicated and perform as per client needs. You have to master communication skills to understand what exactly your client expects from you. You have to be patient in your approach and constantly work in building a good reputation as a reliable SEO consulting professional as clients will prefer working with people whom they can trust.

However, by capturing their email address and getting them on to your opt in list (I will explain the best way to capture their details later in this guide), you are giving yourself future opportunities to market your services to these business owners. A common new years resolution is “quit the rat race and be your own boss”. In this article we’ll take a look at what is involved in starting up your own search marketing business, the opportunities you could grab, and the pitfalls you should avoid.
Citations (core online profiles) are both the #2 and #5 Google Map ranking factors. I always work with clients on Google My Business and Moz Local (since those are the most important profiles). But I outsource creating all the other profiles to Whitespark for $4-5 per citation. You can either upsell this to clients (eg. for $10 per citation) or refer them as a Whitesaprk affiliate and make a 10% commission.
