Quite a few people have asked me how to raise capital to start a new business. My response is always, “what for?” They usually have a blank look on their face when I ask that. In reality, it’s likely to be somewhere in the middle at first, however be wary of going in too low. A low price often means low quality so be sure you set a price point which reflects the level of service and quality which you’re offering!

Any tips on how best to nurture a link from a supplier/partner/non-competing business, WITHOUT having to give a reciprocal link back, which I understand to be a poor strategy in SEO, but sadly seems to be the only currency “some website owners” understand?
So if you are going to get and keep your clients loyal, then you must do a good job educating them about the importance / benefits of SEO to their business. You will also need to teach them how to measure their SEO results and growth. Thereby making them understand what you are doing and appreciate your efforts. However, this will cost you not just money but also time.
If you’re going to be a one-person consulting company in the beginning, I would recommend getting some real-world experience under your belt before making a promises to prospective clients that might be difficult to keep. Until then, you could always hire a great team while you bring in the clients.

The next step is to run some searches on Power Leads Pro X to harvest the details of all the printers, accountants, web designers and any other business that works on a business to business basis in your area. The good news is you don’t have to guess! Google has a keyword planner tool that provides search volume for queries, as well as a suggestions feature to provide insight into different keyword variations. This is extremely useful when deciding whether “tacos” or with a tortilla folded around it” is searched for more frequently, as a search engine’s index treats the queries separately. Using these keywords naturally throughout your site builds relevancy and helps search engines understand what your site is about.
When I first started my agency it was just me and many VAs. I outsourced everything and paid stupid amounts of money for link placement. Some of these vendors scammed me and many of the link placements sucked or got removed.
This acts as a big number that they now have in their head and hopefully if you convince them well enough, they won’t want to drop any of the keywords you have proposed and will sign up to have you optimise their site for all of them.
You must remember that you will almost never leave a meeting with a business owner getting a straight ‘no’ answer. I’d love to use this strategy but I imagine these figures are much different nowadays.
Now, this is not to say that you shouldn’t promote / establish yourself online, just saying that even though this is a great long-term objective, it’s a generally poor and unreliable strategy to claim market share when you’re just starting out.
But if you treat that client poorly, not only will they stop paying you, but you’ll notice that the number of referrals you get on a regular basis will slowly start going down. For this reason,you have to have a clean reputation and be known for taking care of your clients even when you don’t think it makes sense to. By doing this, in the long run, you’ll continually gain new clients from referrals.
